Our national debt has risen to over $23 trillion, yet Congress continues to kick the can down the road and borrow over 40% of every dollar it spends. I will continue to support true spending cuts and a Balanced Budget Amendment.

I applaud President Trump’s efforts to roll back regulations and create record-level jobs for American families. We can continue to promote new job creation by cutting red tape and regulations, lowering taxes, and demanding free and fair trade. Economic growth originates from the hard-working entrepreneurial spirit of the American people–not from Washington. The best thing we can do to continue fostering job growth in this country is to get the federal government out of the way of the American worker and ensure that the United States remains a top global economic competitor.

There is a severe crisis at our nation’s Southern border. In Congress, I supported the President’s efforts to secure the border and construct a wall. I support further efforts to secure our border, reform our immigration and asylum system, keep American families safe, and prevent drug and human trafficking.

Obamacare has been disastrous for American families: premiums continue to rise and the cost of healthcare and prescription drugs are at an all-time high. Now, the Democrats are pushing for socialized medicine under their ‘Medicare for All’ plan, which would cost the American people more than $30 trillion, stifle innovation, and hurt our seniors. I have fought in Congress against government intrusion into healthcare and I support patient-centered reforms that preserve your right to see the Doctor of your choice, protect small businesses, and most importantly, lower costs.

As a longtime pro-life activist, I will work in Congress to end to the tragedy of abortion. I’ll work just as hard to reduce barriers to adoption, and promote policies that support groups offering hope and assistance to mothers facing crisis pregnancies. In my time in Congress, I have consistently fought against policies that support Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry, and I applaud President Trump for keeping his promise to to advance the pro-life agenda in the U.S. and across the globe.

Our nation must honor its commitment to those who have served our country, and to the families of those who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice. This includes making sure we keep our promises with respect to health care and retirement benefits. I will never support harmful cuts to military spending in order to fund costly, liberal, big government programs.

Our core freedoms, guarded by the First Amendment, are under assault by the Left whose aim is to silence public expression of faith that does not align with its own agenda. I will continue to staunchly defend our religious liberty from government infringement and control. In Congress, I fought against dangerous legislation that marginalizes people of faith, such as the so-called ‘Equality Act.’ I will always fight for our Constitutional right of freedom of religion. I will continue to support policies that strengthen families and help them raise children that thrive in every way.

We must improve education by returning decision-making and funding to the local level. Parents have the right to choose public schools, charter schools, private schools, and homeschooling. I oppose any approaches that try to force a one-size-fits-all approach to educating our children. I also support the Parental Rights Amendment.

Maintaining national security is one of the federal government’s primary responsibilities under the Constitution.  We must ensure the people of the United States are protected by providing for our common defense. But it’s also important that we not forget our national debt of more than $23 trillion. Congress needs to be working with our military leaders at the Pentagon to identify wasteful and duplicative programs that can be consolidated or removed in order to ensure our defense budget is being spent responsibly. I can not overstate the importance of having a robust national defense, that puts the safety and well-being of the American people first.

I am a strong advocate for our 2nd Amendment rights. Our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms is clear, and North Carolina’s sporting heritage is an important part of our state. I oppose liberals’ efforts to create a national gun registry and any other anti-gun legislation that erodes our gun rights.

I’m dedicated to supporting legislation that is in line with the original intent of our Constitution and to working with my colleagues to rein in the size and scope of the federal government.

As a Member of Congress, it has been my honor to ensure we are maintaining and developing positive relationships with our allies and nations across the globe. One of my top priorities while in Congress has been supporting our great ally, Israel, who serves as a beacon of hope and democracy in the Middle East. I will continue to ensure the U.S. maintains its dominance over China, Russia, and Iran.

I stand with the Trump Administration’s efforts to reduce our dependence on foreign oil by tapping into our national gas reserves, which are the largest in the world. We must continue expanding  new domestic drilling and pipeline opportunities, along with exploring ways to economically use renewable, clean energy sources.
